Sherisse Rogers's has one of the most happening new big bands bands in town -- you can check out clips from her critically-acclaimed debut CD here. [Of course, I'm biased, since I co-produced the record, but trust me, it's killin'.] Tonight, she brings Project Uprising -- which includes Secret Society co-conspirators Erica vonKleist and Peter Van Huffel -- to the Jazz Gallery. I will be stepping in to conduct Sherisse's Charlie Parker award-winning tune, "A Slippery Slope," so that the composer herself can get down on electric bass.
Sets at 9 and 10:30 PM. $12.
