... upon Time Out New York's Steve Smith for his kind words on his indispensible blog. And a thousand more upon his TONY comrade-in-arms, Hank Shteamer, for his shout-out in last week's print edition as well.
In case you missed the latter (although you're unlikely to miss it again, as we are planning on getting this quote tattooed on our forehead):
Darcy James Argue's big band skillfully realizes the leader's mature, emotive compositions and thick arrangements. This stuff sounds so pro, we're wondering why we haven't heard of the Secret Society before.
UPDATE: Steve reviews Friday's Bowery Poetry Club gig here (scroll down). Little does he realize that "Think, you know, Maynard Ferguson playing the Astrodome" were the exact words I spoke to the BPC sound tech just before we took the stage.
Darcy, much as I'd love to claim credit for the perceptive words you quote here -- with which I entirely agree, mind you -- they were actually penned by my Time Out colleague Hank Shteamer.

Well, damn. My very deepest thanks to Mr. Shteamer as well, and I will emend the post accordingly.
[Incidentally, does anyone know of a good tattoo removal surgeon? I have a wee change to make.]
