Many thanks to all of the people who came out to hear Secret Society at the Bowery Poetry Club. Running an 18-piece band often feels like a fool's errand, but when you get a response like the one last night, that is quite literally the fuel that keeps us going. We hope to see you all again soon.
Audio and photos will be added shortly.
Looking forward to hearing it. Did you play an instrument yourself, nowadays?

Hey Mwanji,
I was a jazz piano major at McGill, played around Montreal a fair bit (including at the Montreal Jazz Fest in 2000) and continued to play throughout my NEC years -- my graduate recital was half quintet (with me on piano) and half big band. But after moving to New York, I realized that running a big band and breaking into the NY scene as a player were two separate full-time careers, and I had to choose one of them. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it, and of course I still play for my own enjoyment, but when it comes down to it, there just aren't enough hours in the day for me to do both things at a level that would be acceptable for me.
