I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but the first few tracks from this 2003 Radiohead Earl's Court hit are stunningly good. Obscure Sound has the goods -- go get.

Also, I take back (some of) my previous skepticism of the Arctic Monkeys. I'm still not convinced their songs are anything special, but based on the audio from this show, Andy Nicholson (bass) and Matthew Helders (drums) can definitely kick it live, and have considerably more agility than most pop-punk rhythm sections.
The latest All Songs Considered has a track from the upcoming (tomorrow) Calexico record, Garden Ruin.
And, of course, who doesn't love Neko?
IMHO the current rock band with the best rythm section is The Dead Science. The drummer is an jazz player (If I remembr correctly. I only do a half bastard wirte up on the other blog. But their song is seriously wicked. I love them (and naturally, nobody else like them)
They have several tracks on their page. (I would say 'batty' and 'threnody' will support my case)

Another crazy find is Jessica Catron. She is an avant garde cellist associated with Nels Cline/Carla bouzolich.
She doesn't have an album yet. but has several crazy tracks in her myspace page.
