Finale 2007 is now shipping. It's a pretty nifty upgrade -- new features include linked parts, video support, vertical collision detection, and support for Intel Macs. Here is a comprehensive review.
One of the things I do to help finance my big band habit is run Finale workshops at local schools, etc. These workshops are free for the host institution -- MakeMusic picks up the tab. You just need to provide me with a room, a screen and laptop projector, and stereo hookup or set of computer speakers. I will show off all the cool new stuff included with Finale 2007, as well as things you might have missed in previous versions, and pass on time-saving tips I've learned in my work as a professional copyist. Then I do an extended Q&A wherein I single-handedly solve any problems you may be having with the software in one fell swoop. It's fun -- really.
I'm going to be giving one of these workshop at the American Music Center this September, but if you teach at a NYC-area school (NYC-area = anywhere accessible by MTA/PATH/LIRR, etc.) and would like me to come do my thing for your students and faculty sometime this fall, drop me a line.
