It gives me great pleasure to announce that Secret Society is about to record a new album: BROOKLYN BABYLON, the much-anticipated followup to Infernal Machines. This album will include all of the music from the acclaimed multimedia performance Brooklyn Babylon, a work I co-created with visual artist Danijel Zezelj. The recording sessions will take place from June 19-21, 2012 and the album will be released in April 2013 on New Amsterdam Records. You can help us make this recording a reality by pre-ordering the album now, or otherwise supporting our Kickstarter fundraiser, which launches today.
I hope you'll watch the above video, created by the most estimable Marc Faletti. In it, I talk about what it means to me to be going back into the recording studio with Secret Society. I am absolutely thrilled that we will be recording the music from Brooklyn Babylon, which is an album many of you have been asking me for every since the premiere at the BAM Next Wave Festival last fall.
This record is dear to my heart. I feel like everything I've been doing musically has been leading up to this moment. My co-conspirators in Secret Society are equally excited about this recording and I hope you will be as well. Today, we are offering you the opportunity to pre-order this recording by supporting our Kickstarter fundraiser, which runs until midnight on June 18 -- the day before we enter the recording studio. By contributing today, you'll receive a copy of the album as soon as it is ready for release. You'll also be helping us defray the not-inconsiderable recording costs.
Other reward packages include the upcoming Brooklyn Babylon graphic novel by Danijel Zezelj, an original cocktail recipe created by me for you, and the opportunity to sponsor a Secret Society co-conspirator. And if by any chance you've long harbored the desire to be an Executive Producer...
Full details on all reward packages can be had at our Kickstarter page. Oh, and did I mention that all contributions are tax-deductible?
Making a recording this ambitious, with eighteen musicians all playing multiple instruments, is no easy undertaking. The music of Brooklyn Babylon is novelistic in scope and construction. It's an epic work that tells one big story. By ordering a reward package, you help us ensure that this music is recorded the way we want you to hear it... the way so many of you have told me you want to hear it.
Thank you all so very much for your support -- quite literally, we could not do it without you.
